Rachid Malti holds currently a position of Attaché for Science and Technology at the French consulate in Shanghai.
Born in Yougoslavia, he graduated, in 1994 from INELEC, Boumerdès, Algéria. Then, he defended the M.Sc and the Ph.D degrees in 1996 and 1999 in automatic control from INPL, Nancy, France. From 1999 to 2004, he held a position of Associate Professor at Université Paris 12 and then at Université Bordeaux 1 from 2004 to 2014. He received the ``Accreditation to supervise/conduct research (HDR)'' in 2012 from Université Bordeaux 1. Since september 2014, he is holding a position of full Professor in automatic control, electrical engineering, and computer engineering at Université de Bordeaux. He is a member of the IFAC Technical Committees 1.1 ``Modelling, Identification and Signal Processing'' and 2.2 ``Linear Control Systems'' and vice-chair of the steering committee of the International Conference of Fractional Differentiation and its applications to be held every other year (2014 in Catania Italy, 2016 in Novi Sad, Serbia, 2018 in Amman, Jordan, 2020 in Warsaw, 2023 in Ajman, UAE, 2024 in Bordeaux). He was the IPC co-chair of the ICFDA 2024 conference that took place in Bordeaux in July 2024. He has been also a member of International Program Committees of about 15 international conferences. He has several contributions in the field of fractional differentiation and its applications in automatic control and system identification. He is also developing, with his colleagues, the object oriented CRONE toolbox for fractional systems available at http://cronetoolbox.ims-bordeaux.fr. From 2013 to 2019, he was appointed head of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (about 340 students, more than 30 permanent assistant, associated, and full professors) of Bordeaux Institue of Technologie. He was a member of the French National University Council in section 61 (CNU) from 2019 to 2024. Then he took the position of Attaché (or consul) for Science and Technology at the French consulate in Shanghai.
